3" Wheel Guns?

Bought my wife a S&W model 60 3" a year ago. She is very comfortable with it and shoots it great. Heck I am quiet fond of it myself and really like shooting it. It just has the best balance for a light 3 inch revolver. To sum it up.....not to light but more light than most, points great and the best part it shoots great.

I have two, S&W 65-3 and a Ruger Police Service Six. 3" makes a great defensive size - I load mine with .38spl+p to give, for me, a nice balance of adequate power and great shot control.

I ccw several 3" wheel guns, 2 gp100's, s&w model19, speed six, and of course the 2-3/4 inch ones which is what you did not ask about. I also ccw a 4" gp100 many times. Good luck in your quest

I have a 3" Taurus 605 which is my small, easily concealed carry gun. Not only does the extra inch help with sighting and muzzle flip, it also adds probably another 100 fps to the velocity.

The only problem is finding a really good IWB holster for it. It doesn't fit a lot of j-frame holsters.

Don't have a centerfold photo of it yet, but, my just about perfect revolver is an S&W M686+ with a 3-inch barrel that I discovered the summer of 2008........holy tamoley.........I'm kicking myself for not discovering the 3-inchers earlier..........

btw, doe a 2 3/4 inch Ruger Security Six "count" in the "3-inch" category? close?

sorry about the above post he did began with 3" j-frame then went on to talk about k and n frames my bad. I been intrested in the 3" j-frame recently too which I guess is what i was looking for sorry.

be safe

holsters for 3 inch

I have a hard time finding a good inside the pants holster for my 3 inch S&W I have to use a blackhawk holster for a four inch for mine. It seems that a 3 inch is not that popular so the guys who make them don't, I find that a four inch is a good option but the 3 inch is easier to hide. It seems that lots of others think the same. But it is harder to find a holster for a revolver with out custom ordering it. Every body makes 50 models for a auto but none for a weelgun.:cuss:

I picked this up yesterday from my dealer for a song.

3 inch is a nice compromise

My first issue gun was a S&W model 13 with a 3 inch barrel and round butt. It made for a very nice carry gun in uniform or plain clothes.

When I qualified with a 4 inch, I noticed the 3 inch was quicker out of my pancake holster and uniform holster.

The negative is that you have more muzzle flash with.357 magnum ammo and lower velocity. Recoil can also be heavier because of the lighter gun.

We gave our dad a 3" SB model 36-1 flat latch model from the 60s. The blue is plum colored. Pachmayr compacs give it a nice round grip. We loaded up gramps with Federal hydrashock 110 grain non plus P, we felt the usual Gold dot SB would be too much for him. He prefers this gun to all others.

My 60-10. Found this one NIB a couple months ago, jumped on it as it is pre-lock. Carry it in an IWB holster, great balanced little revolver.
