Does anyone know if there is a manufacturer out there who produces an AR platform in 30.06?

Cobb Manufacturing used to make them, but they were bought by Bushmaster, and I'm not sure what became of their designs afterwards.

If I remember right, generally .30-06 AR15s are expensive, use lots of proprietary parts, and don't really have the affordable magazine availability of a .308 AR.

from what I remember when doing research previously, cost was a hugge prohibitive factor, and the size seemed rather cumbersome. My immediate thought was that a .308 AR 1o style rifle could do JUST ABOUT everything a 06 version could, and do so at a MUCH lower cost all the way around.

One advantage would be the legal exemption by ATF of .30/06 M2 AP as particularly suited for sporting purposes. For me in IL, and others in similar situations, 7.62 NATO AP would be a felony, but in .06 it passes legal muster. And no, I'm not endorsing any of this nonsense just pointing out one advantage an AR in .06 might offer.

Pretty much this.

Well, I read the sarcasm even without any font or smileys :)

There is some truth to the .308 vs .30-06 debate but I'm more interested in this: Long action AR chambered in .375 Ruger (uses .30-06 action). An AR in a powerful medium bore would be different enough to me to be interesting.

Thanks for the info guys. I was on the road for work for the last week. I really would like to look further into this. I'm not trying to debate .308 versus 30.06, just that I already have a 30.06 and a lot of ammo for it, and was looking to not have to stock .308 for an AR if there was a 30.06 AR out there already. Good conversation though. :)

I watched the HCAR video on Ohio Ordnance's website and the one with Larry Vickers...very impressive. I want one now for sure...the price tag is hefty though. That will be a "wish list" item, but something worth saving up for. Thanks for the info again everyone.
