The M1917 (sometimes called an enfield) is actually copied more or less from the mauser and is in 30-06. I have one that the previous owner sporterized. Not sure what one costs these days though.
Are you looking for a sporter or for an original surplus rifle? I picked up this commercially sporterized Oberndorf, done by Suhl, for a very good price. The work is exquisite and it's very accurate. Just look around. Nice sporters are everywhere and usually very affordable because the milsurp purists poo poo them.

The M1903s and 1903a3s are Mausers too.
There are a number of Spanish and German Mausers that were converted by gunsmiths. There are also plenty of commercial mausers. You should be able to get a decent second hand Interarm Mark X in 30-06 and have a fine 98 actioned Mauser.

Very nice looking rifle, I would love to have a couple of similar ones myself. But around here it is becoming harder and harder to even find sporterized old rifles for less than an arm and a leg.

FN made 30-06 Issue Mausers for the Columbians back in the 1950s. I have had two and they are pretty neat. They also made a Morroccan Police Mauser carbine in 30-06 and 7.62mm they are super cool.....

Case82 8mm mauser is a most outstanding rifle. I am able to shoot single holes 5 round group at 100 meters with a Yugo48 in a Advanced Technologies stockwith a Tasco world class scope (mil dot). I love the ballistics of the .323 cal bullet. Don't buy the junk ammo Turk, Yugo, ceczk, but I load my own at WWII recepe levels----196gr spitzers at 2500fps. I use 200 gr sierra hpbt and powder to push 2650 fps. Performance is exceptional. I also have a 1941 Obendorf that I will not modify in any form, beautiful gun great shooter. Blitz
For some reasons (collector "purism" and/or whatever else as the previous poster mentioned) beautiful sporterized Mauser and others military actions can be bought at very low price (and I hope stays that way..

The very first gun that I bought here in America less than one year ago is this gorgeaous sporter 30-06 based on a German Mauser 98 (Nazi era, pre-WWII) and the asking price was only $180!!! (Seattle area)....the gun shop traded the rifle at no difference with my Beretta .177 air pistol!!!!!
It had an old Weaver scope (5X) with an index reticle installed on it.....I sold the scope for $58 and the mounting for $35 on Ebay!!
It is incredibly accurate, and the action is buttery smooth......I absolutely love it....
The same shop asked $250 for an used Stevens 30-06 with a syntethic stock and no scope...go figure!!!!
