I've always trimmed my brass to 2.028 or 2.029. I purchased some pre-processed brass that is shorter, anywhere from 2.023 to 2.025. The SAAMI diagram shows 2.039-0.020. I assume that means the brass can be as short as 2.019. Has anyone shot with brass this short?

No problem at all and welcome to THR. I hope the link helps and maybe a kind hearted moderator will move the thread as they see fit.

30-30 MAX case length is 2.039".

'Trim Too' length is 2.028", or .010" shorter.

However, I have seen more factory load case length variation in 30-30 WCF then in any other caliber I have ever reloaded.

The shorter cases are perfectly fine to reload & shoot.

But you will have to sort by length and load each length lot separate to get a uniform bullet crimp without not crimping the short ones, and buckling the shoulders on the long ones.
