My son recently acquired a 1950 Winchester 94 in .25-35.

We both reload & would like to try resizing .30-30 brass to .25-35; he has dies & bullets on the way.

I have done .30-06 to 8mm Mauser & .308 to .300 Savage, but .30 to .25 seems kind of a drastic step in one fell swoop given that .30-30 brass is a little on the fragile side.

Question is: do we need to run it through an intermediate die? If so, what die?
Any input appreciated.

Regards, Hud

Seems like a lot of work to me unless you have a large quantity of .30-30 brass to begin with considering a case trim to boot.
Graff and Sons has Winchester .25-35 brass for $21.99/50

It would appear Redding makes a couple of forming dies.

290221 25-35 Winchester - Form #1 $75.02
283221 25-35 Winchester - Form & Trim Die 70.80

So it would appear there is an intermediate forming step, then a final form and trim step.

Seems like $145.82 spent on dies to make brass you can buy with the correct headstamp.

Another suggestion is to call RCBS customer service to inquire about their case forming dies. Redding makes really great dies, but they are expensive.
See what advice RCBS can give you. :)
