I'm toying with the idea of getting a .308 or .30-06. Part of the appeal would be shooting reduced loads at 100 yards. Anyone know of a cast bullet load for either of these that will shoot to the same POA at 100 yards as a full-velocity jacketed hunting load at 250 or 300 yards? Assume a typical height scope mount for a 40 mm scope.
edit: Alternate question for someone more adept at using a ballistic calculator: to match a common 165 gr/BC 0.41 bullet (Nosler Partition) @ 2650 fps zeroed at 250 yards, what muzzle velocity would give a 150 gr BC 0.25 bullet the same launch angle to hit zero at 100 yards? The online calculator I use doesn't give the initial angle.
