.30 carbine questions

I'm starting to reload .30 carbine. After a 6months of looking in the store, cabela's and bass pro for bullets, i found 200 soft points at Cabela's.

I'm wondering what is the best recipe you have tried so far?
I used 10gns of 2400 with mixed cases & 110gn Remington soft points.
I have not shot these yet. I am hoping to by the end of the week.

also who has the best prices online for metallic components for the .30car?

You might want to recheck your reloading manual. I've never used 2400, but your 10 grains 2400 is well below my Lyman manual's starting load

If you are going to use 2400 powder (great for cast lead bullets, but underpowered for jacketed bullets), then bump your charge weight up to 12gr. 15gr of W296 or IMR4227 are much better powders for jacketed bullets in .30 Carbine. Powder Valley has just about the best prices for reloading components.

My std. load for M-1 Carbine is 12 grains of 4227 behind a 100 grain cast lead Lee mould bullet. Works very well for me and is accurate with no leading.

Using 110 gr Remington SP bullet
I have had good luck with H110 powder
Light load: 12.5 gr H110
Heavy load: 14.0 gr. H110

I load a lot of .30 Carbine, but only for revolver.
I don't cast my own so use commercially cast 110 grn bullets which are pretty easy to find.
Easy to load, I think main issue for reloading for something like a carbine would be a load that would cycle the action.
Trim length for that tapered case is also important.

I just checked and 14.0 is the starting load for a 110 grain jacketed bullet with H110/W296.
I've always loaded 14.5.

Max load for 110gr is 15 gr of H110
I can't see beating a gun to death---especially a carbine that is half dead already'
12.5 gr. works the slide fine & is very accurate.
NOW: 15 gr is a fun ( indoors) load for a Ruger 30 carbine pistol--it ain't half dead.

Interesting. Hodgon says 14.0-15.0, but I just checked another manual (Speer) that lists 12.0 as the starting with H110. I'll have to give the 12.5 a shot.

My two cents...I use fmj 110 gn Remington bullets with win 296 - 13.8 grn charge. Works well in my IBM 1943.
