300 AAC Blackout upper

Model One took SEVEN MONTHS to get all my parts together, but they did not raise prices.

While the market has rebounded somewhat, not all parts are sitting on a shelf ready and waiting.

My personal suggestion is to build your own 300BLK upper instead if you are looking to save a little money. Barrels can be bought for $140 at SOTA, and $60 for an upper receiver from AeroPrecision. add handguard and other upper parts and you should be within the same price range.

I've never checked headspace on a semi, but I'm very familiar with checking it on Savage builds. From watching a youtube, it isn't that difficult. Removing extractor and ejector makes it possible "feel" more easily.

I usually take a go-gage, verify that I can close the bolt, and then one can build up the go-gauge to be a no-go by adding layers of skotch tape (about .003 each). I went and checked the SAAMI spec .223 chamber and the difference between min and max chamber "headspace" is .010 -- or about three thicknesses of tape on a gogauge I estimate.

Not hard to do, probably takes about 30 minutes and would make me personally feel a lot happier about shooting thousands of rounds through a firearm I had assembled.

It certainly makes some sense to start the other way round with a field gauge, but I like my bolt guns a bit toward the tight side. A semi, maybe it is better to have it a bit toward the loose side to guarantee everything will chamber. I'm not an expert on that.
