I know, i know. But has anyone used CFE 223 to load 300 blackout? Is it too fast for this round? Currently use 17gr imr4227 under a 125gr FBHP.

Actually, CFE223 powder is too slow for 300 BLK.

I've never seen anyone using CFW223 in the 300 BLK.

At least for supersonic loads up to 150 grain bullets or so, Magnum pistol powders like IMR4227 or H110/W296 and fast rifle powders like Accurate 1680, IMR4198 (180 grain bullets) or H4198 (180 grain bullets) work the best.

^^^ concur. I use H110/W296 in loads for 110gr - 150gr. These give maximum velocity. Other powders that will work include AA9, Enforcer, 2400, but at lower velocities.

I use AA1680 in 220gr subsonics. It cycles my AR15 without any issue. It is the holy grail for 300 BLK subs.

In a bolt action, you have a few more pistol powder options for subsonics since their is no semi-auto action.

Thank you for the info. I was just curious. Seems cfe 223 is abundantly available, and i have 3lb of it. I only use it for 223/556. I was wondering if there was a hidden application for it.

I only shoot light supersonic loads and my personal preference is 5744 though it's costly.
