My guide at a TX hog hunt earlier this month had a client use that round and he was distinctly unimpressed.

Details? Barrel length, shot placement, estimated impact velocity, range? Was he an experienced hunter? Was bone involved?

An inexperienced hunter may expect immediate results when that isn't always guaranteed without a CNS hit. This may not perform well against bone, either, but copper bullets usually do pretty well in that regard.

Are you sure it was a TAC-TX and not one of the other projectiles this company loads?

To be fair, I don't know anything about the bullet used or hunter skill, the camp owner just said the .300 BO was hitting the hog with no visible effect. He's in the hog killing business and sees all kinds of rounds used and was a bit taken aback with the lack of impact. Just an interesting contrast with the 180 lb. boar I hit in the shoulder while there with a 150 gr. .30-'06 that never took another step. My daughter in the photo saw it before I did.

Okay, that makes more sense. .300 BLK has a lot of loads available and subsonic loads are pretty popular. A 200 gr .30 caliber bullet at 800 fps isn't likely to drop anything quickly without a CNS hit.
