Hi there fellow reloaders, hope you are having a great day. We’ll, I finally got my can out of jail for my 10.3” 300 blk build and of course have been chomping at the bit to load up some reliable subs to fling at random crap in the desert. I already know the powders everyone has loaded subs successfully with and have 2 lbs of cfe blk to start this project with. Went to the local shop here to pick up some 220s and found they had only 2 boxes of .308 220s, one being the hornady rn and the other being the old Winchester ppsp that looks like a 30-06 bullet. I picked up the Winchester because it was $15 cheaper and I don’t expect to hunt with these so reliable expansion isn’t necessary. I measured a Sierra 220 hpbt at 1.478 and the Winchester is 1.30 so adjusted the coal off the Sierra accordingly and came up with 2.142 and loaded up a ladder from 10.8-11.4 for the first go. Probably could have pushed them a little deeper but tested in my mags and the ogive is around.267 on the bump and seems they pop up straight and dry cycle just fine. I use hexmags which seem to feed better for me than pmags or lancers so I’m going with it. Tested some 220 freedom hush rounds this past week and they shot beautifully but don’t cycle my action so I figured cfe blk would do the trick. Ok, after all this rambling my question is, have any of you ever tried a bullet like this in subsonic 300 blk? Or maybe the hornady rn since those are the only 220s I can get at home he moment.
