300 H&H barrel length

I just assumed that I was safe so long as I was not putting X’s over the eyes of the Mona Lisa or a muzzlebrake on a fine double gun. :)

Maybe I’ll do a 308 Norma instead – the Swedes don't seem to care about that sort of thing.

Swedes, ever practical and stylish.....
The .308 norma makes way more sense to me in 06 length (3.4") action than the .300 Win. especially with long pointys

My bride is Swedish, so I’ll tell her that she was the inspiration and earn brownie points along the way.

Very good - thanks for the help! :)

But now the question becomes – what length barrel for 308 Norma?

My Dad had a Model 70 300 H&H. The only rifle he used after getting out of the Army after-WWII. He got me a Remington 721 300 H&H when I was 14 for an upcoming Elk hunting trip. He paid $81.00 for it new. I was use to a 30-30. First shot knocked me down. 20 shots later I bagged a 5 point bull elk. Never felt the need for another big game rifle until I resurrected a Trapdoor Springfield, but that's another story.
I shot every kind of critter with that gun, and only lately gave my Son the Winchester and my Grandson the Remington. I hope they enjoy them as much as my Dad and I did.

....same answer LOL

Honestly if I do another .300 its going to be like VTs 30" tube, winchester case, but on a full length H&H action so i can run the bullets wayout.

I just did a .300 Dakota on a 26" custom tube in a McMillian. It was a lot of time and money to get .300 wtby like performance in a standard length case. But I'm a rifle loony so it was fun to have done and to play with.

IDK
I don’t own any .30 mag. But a H&H seems as good as any. I kinda thought if I ever bought one (I have the Win and the Gov in .30 cal) I’d load it with the 220 in lead or 200 in CU and it would be the final answer in the .30 cal for me. Instead I landed a .338 WM accidentally and intentionally got a 375 HH. If I get another mag it will be some flavor of 7mm...

IDK anything about the Norma, but if your wife is Swede and you already own the 6.5 go for it!
