I'm looking for data for 300gr cast bullets in .45 Colt at standard pressures. Only one of my manuals lists a 300gr load and that is for a Sierra jacketed bullet. What I've seen in my manuals is that charge ranges are nearly the same for cast and jacketed bullets for Unique powder and that the jacketed bullet data falls within the spread allowed for cast bullets. That said, I'm very hesitant to just load the cast bullets using starting or mid-range data for jacketed bullets.

Is it okay to use jacketed bullet data with cast bullets? Does anyone have data for a 300gr cast bullet using Unique at standard .45 Colt pressure? It seems most of the data I find for 300gr and heavier bullets is for "Ruger Only". Not really a problem since these are going in a Redhawk, but I don't want to load all 1000 of these to wrist-snapping levels.

Thanks!

On edit: I also have Blue Dot, Titegroup, Trail Boss, and AA7to use if needed.

Thanks guys. I'd seen that website; it's good, but they mix high pressure loads in with the "non +p" loads indiscriminately. Another site I've looked at is M.D. Smith's Reloading Pages he does a better job of identifying the high pressure loads, but doesn't list anything for 300gr cast bullets.

I'll try 6.1gr of Unique and work up to 6.8gr which is the maximum load for a 300gr jacketed bullet. Since this maximum load only produces 12,900 CUP it should be safe if some wind up in my brother in law's 1909 Colt. I know they will be safe in my Redhawk.

9.0 grs. of Unique will put a 300 gr cast slug at or a little over 900 fps

P.S. Having a Redhawk, you have the single strongest 45 Colt on the market...well they don't make .45 Colt Redhawks anymore, but you can load that one hot.
