Built a 300nm on a deviant action and MPA chassis a couple years back for the ELR match ( https://www.thehighroad.org/index.p...warning-really-big-pics.808439/#post-10331271 )and just haven’t had a chance to shoot it much. 45 rounds on the barrel before today and now I’m up to 68.

I’ve got my left handed USO on it and I just threw it on there crooked to work up a load. I want to put a NF 35x on there when I can afford it.

I’m using 86g h1000 and Berger 230g until I get about 80 rounds on it and then I’ll start working up loads with the Warner flatline 198gs. These are clocking in around 3033 fps. And my dope is tracking really well. After throwing a few rounds at paper at 100, I shot a round at 600 yards, a bunch at 1000 then 800 and back to 1000. Dope tracked perfectly and I didn’t miss a single steel target all day. But my windage is acting up. Probably scope loose. At 100 I was either hitting dead on or an inch right. So on steel I would hold almost left edge and either hit where I was aiming or over on the right edge. Weird.

anyway I love this cartridge. Recoil isn’t bad enough to knock me off the gun so I can still see impacts and I even picked up trace once. I’ll have to get used to that. Definitely not like shooting 6dasher with a 22lb gun lol and you for sure know you hit the target both visually and audibly.

gotta love 6.0mils to 1000.

Good looking rig!
I wanted to build another .30 mag for a while, and the Norma's, Win, and PRC (tho build specifics differ based on cartridge chosen) have been what's rattled around in my head.
The 300 Norma being the most costly it's probably the least likely for me to do, so I'm extra interested in your rifle and experience.

honestly I tried to get a buddy of mine to do the 300nm when he decided he wanted an elr type rifle.

Nice looking setup.

Todd Hodnett likes 300NM but I read somewhere that the military steered away from it due to pressure spikes in varying temperatures. Is that Hornady marketing again or a legit concern?
