OK, just got 400 208g Amax's and am finally gonna start loading up some rounds for my R700 XCR, but I cant find solid data anywhere for this round. Its not in a single one of my 5 reloading books, i guess its just to new? I have RL22 and H1000 to load with. I also cant find what COAL these should be.

Doing some quick internet pet load searches, I have found some idea, but dont really like going off pet load data. It seems with RL22, 71-72.5 is the good zone to be in. Was thinking of loading 3 rounds of 70.5,71,71.5,72 and 72.5 up, but have no idea what COAL to make them. I cant find anything on H1000 with this bullet.

Any ideas/help for me?

My rifle seems to like 71.6gr Reloder 22 with CCI 250 primers. I'm getting around 2,850 fps with this load. Two 5-shot groups at 100 yards prone off a bipod are shown below.

A couple of years ago, I sent an email to Berger asking for load data for their 210gr bullet so that I could start working up a load for the 208gr A-MAX. Here's what I got back so you might find it helpful.

C.O.L. of my load with the 208gr A-MAX is 3.580" but that's with the ogive 0.020" off the lands. Basically, I don't worry about C.O.L., I measure to the ogive using a bullet comparator since I want to know how far the bullet is off the lands.

Hornady's new 8th Edition has data for the 208 A-Max in .300 Winchester Magnum. They tested using a Rem 700 25" barrel using Hornady cases and Win WLRM magnum primer.
Here's 4 powders tested out of 9.
IMR 4350--56.5-2400fps---61.6-2600--maximum 66.7-2800
IMR 4831--58---2400------63.4-2600--maximum 68.7-2800
RL 22---59.2---2400--65.1-2600---68-2700---70.9-2800 ---Maximum 72.4------2850
IMR 7828 SSC--61.8-2400 ---66.8-2600---69.3-2700--71.8-2800 max 73-2850
Overall length tested with the 208 A-Max was 3.340". Same data given for the 208 BTHP match bullet #30733 and used the same oal.
