If i where to buy a Remington SPS Tactical with a 20" 1/12 barrel or similar , what would be the heaviest bullets it would stabilize efficiently without going to a faster 1/10 twist?
Lot's of folks shoot 168 & 175gr pills out of those 1/12" twist bores quite well. I don't know if 190gr SMK's would or wouldn't work but surely someone here can tell us. My Savage 10 came with a 1/10" twist BTW.
I have shot plenty of 190SMK's out of my 1-12" twist FN SPR. They stabilize just fine. The key to shooting heavy bullets for a particular twist is to maintain a good velocity. With my 26" barrel, I am able to run the 190SMK's at 2700fps. Not bad for a .308.
