I'm just getting into rifles, and want to purchase my first bolt action.

I'm torn between 270 Win and 308 Win.

What kind of accuracy can I expect from 308 match grade top of the line bullets out of a rifle with under 1MOA at 100 yards (thinking Tikka T3 Varmin, 24" barrel).

Thanks!

Justin,
I have just posted this reply in another forum:

I have a CZ 550 Varmint .308 with a Nightforce scope and this rifle has fallen in love with 168gr HPBT at 2700 fps. If I’m up to the task this rifle gives me regular .20 MOA at 200 m (222yds). I submit this is exceptional with factory ammo. This rifle is also quite heavy and unpleasant to carry around at next to 13lbs. Given the 90% range time, I suggest this rifle for splitting the breeze and paper or for tactical style hunts. Get another light rifle for stalking the woods.

Hope this helps...

you can't go wrong with a Remington 700 pss

I shoot .5 moa right out of the box with a factory Remington 700 police model with 26" barrel in .308 cal. with nightforce 12x42x56 glass using sierra 168 gr. bthp match ammo.
Mind you... i reload, but using the factory ammo should still give you under 1 moa at 100 yrds.
