Hey guys, i have a vepr 24" in the .308 and was looking at getting some ammo for it, i had a guy that was selling barnaul 140gr in brass for a good price that i was about to buy, and now i guess he sold it and only has the the silver bear in the nickel plated steel case. did any of you guys use this kind of ammo in your .308, did you like or not? is one better then the other?

i heard that if i use the steel case, it will cause some trouble and i will not be able to go back to copper case, is that true, cuz i dont want to mess up anything on my new vepr

Iv'e never heard that, and I have used a variety of different ammunition, including Steel cased Barnual, in my Saiga, which id a near equivalent of your VEPR. In fact, I have used steel cased Norinco in an M1-A without incident, but none long term.

The complaints with steel cased ammo has been mainly due to people using it in firearms that were not meant to shoot steel cased ammo. So I've heard, at least. You never really hear of it happening to AR-15s that shoot Wolf on a regular basis. I shoot steel cased in my Saiga. In fact, it's only had brass cased ammo through it once.

Your VEPR will be fine on steel cased ammo, don't worry.

awsome!! thanks guys, going to be getting about 500rds very soon!!! ......... oh plus picked up 2 extra 10rd mags :) VERY NICE!!!!!!!!!!

The only problem with steel cased ammo is it wears on your extractor(and it's troublesome cleaning if it has a laquer case)...

Extractors are cheap, ammo isn't; buy it up.

oh thats not a problem for me about the wear on the extractor, i only have time to shoot it a few times a year anyways, and for cleaning................. i like to clean my guns, it relaxes me :)
