I'm building a Mega 308. Mega Maten 308 lower, upper, MKM guard, and Shilen SDB 1-10 barrel are already accounted for. My next obstacle is picking a good BCG. This is my first 308 DPMS platform and I'm really looking for some suggestions with guys with experience here. I want to squeeze every bit of accuracy as I can out of this build, but I'd like to keep the BCG $300 or under. I can get a phosphate DPMS BCG for $200 OTD (to me that's a good deal), but if I could get something a little more precision it would be ideal. Not sure if that makes sense, but I'm assuming there are some BCG's out there from some mfg's that could get me some better groupings.

Leitner Wise is a company that caught my eye and they also make a Carbonite BCG that interest me, but I have found no reviews to ensure reliability from a company/product I haven't heard much about.

JP makes a BCG, but that's a $400-500 deal and out of the question.

Blackrain makes a BCG around $300 that interest me also.

Just looking opinions for a reliable BCG on a precision build???

If you want precision either get a bolt with barrel from someone like jp or Fulton armory or get the bolt and have them match the bolt to the barrel.

So if I went with typical DPMS BCG and had a guy set the head space on the upper (with shilen barrel) I wouldn't get the same accuracy as I would with a more quality BCG?

Looking at the JP site, that $500 includes a $200 bolt. I would call them and get a price on barrel, bolt, carrier, gas block kit. You just spent good money on an outstanding receiver setup (I'm building a 6.5 Grendel on the AR-15 version), I would buy the best components you can afford.
Enjoy the build,

TBH, I already have the barrel and gas setup. Strictly looking for a quality BCG. I keep hearing DPMS is a solid BCG, but of course this comes from sources selling them.

Ok, let me get this straight. You bought one of the most expensive(and nicest IMHO I have one) receiver sets, very expensive barrel, and I would guess gonna spend some bucks on trigger for precision. So you want the cheapest BCG you can find, you might not be happy with the end result.

I own one of each, a high end JP bcg and a DPMS one. Side by side comparison the JP is a much nicer looking and feeling than the DPMS. They do both work just fine but not the same. The DPMS is all factory except the barrel, 20" Rainier Arms Match, and shoots 1-1.25 MOA with handloads or FGMM. The Mega with the JP bcg and Lilja barrel shoots 1/2" MOA.

I want to squeeze every bit of accuracy as I can out of this build

This usually does not come cheap. I feel pain when I think of how much I spent on that AR10 build, but smile ear to ear every time I pull the trigger.

otrman, not sure if you completely read my post, but I want to spend around 300 or less on the BCG. I wouldn't take a $300 BCG to be the "cheapest I can find." I can find something cheaper for sure :). My point is say I go with a WMD NIB-X BCG rather than a DPMS. Am I really going to be able to tell a difference in accuracy? Will it be a more reliable operating system? I would love the JP, but 500 is just tough for me to fork on a BCG. Appreciate your time. And yes, I'm going with a Geissle SSA-E trigger.

By the way, gorgeous rifle you have there...

Ok, my first choice is obviously JP, second would be Fulton Armory, followed closely in third would be SI Defense.

Have heard some negatives concerning Blackrain, but just what I have seen on the internets. No first hand knowledge so take it for what its worth.

Also, do you have any trigger time with a two stage trigger? If not, I would try to before you buy. Some love them, some not so much. Nothing wrong with them, I just don't like them. Much prefer crisp clean single stage trigger, it is purely a matter of preference.
