Will it bend the op-rod on my 7.62x51 Garand if I shoot American Eagle in it?

Depends on the bullet weight...

The Garand gas system is setup for a 147gr bullet exiting the barrel at around 2700FPS.

If you use a heavier bullet gas pressures increase. Supposedly (all I shoot is 147 grainers so I don't know from experience) trouble starts at around the 165/168 gr range and can bend the op rod.

I believe that there are now adjustable gas tube plugs you can get for the Garand like the ones available for the M1A which makes it so you can shoot heavier bullets out of a Garand.

Straight form Armalite
ArmaLite’s® larger AR-10 series rifles are all chambered with 7.62 NATO
chambers. .308 Winchester (SAAMI standard) ammunition functions perfectly in the
7.62 NATO chambers.

Interesting, maybe just the com bloc rounds are loaded hotter for machine guns? I know their is some really hot 7.62x54R out their.

Anyway I have to shoot 7.62 out of my FN49 that has a hard primer, soft primers can slamfire with that design. I suspect other old milsurps are like this so watch out.

Hertinberger is one of the best ammunition makers in the world. This is a great bargain and made in Austria. Extremely accurate. I paid more for it in 1990 when money was worth more.

No such animal as MG only ammo...feel free to shoot that x54R ammo with no worries.

I hate the term "HOT" ammo...as its all relative to what you consider normal... a "hot" round to some may be perfectly fine to others....

Its easy to delink, 7.62 prices are falling! Southern Ohio Gun also has some surplus on stripper clips/bandos at arond .39 per rd
