Hello,

Has anyone taken their rifle in .308 Winchester and fired Georgia Arms' match grade ammunition using the 168 and 175-grain Sierra Match King bullets?

If yes, how was the accuracy, consistency, and reliability of the ammunition?

Thanks for the input.

I've had good luck with their handgun ammo, give it a shot and let us know. Most likely depends on the "personality" of the rifle.

Well, Sierra Match Kings in 168 and 175 grain weights are pretty well considered the best accuracy bullet in .30 caliber out there. Have fired a lot of the former and my M1A loves them. Have some 175s for longer ranges but have never loaded them up.

Accuracy loads are pretty much like a Betty Crocker cake mix--not many secrets after years and years of high power matches. I would assume that outfit is just loading up something pretty standard with 4895 or 2520 or some other known accuracy powder. Not very exciting but the performance should be there.

Factory match ammo gives you no guarantee that your rifle will shoot it well. It'll likely shoot better than standard ammo, but the only way to have true match grade ammo for your rifle is to load your own. IMR4064 with a 168 grain match bullet works well.

Thread Necro Alert!

I'm adding info to this post, retrieved in a search, for others who may dig it up one day:

Georgia Arms .308 standard Match - not to be confused with their "Super Match" which likely uses sorted components - uses various milspec cases (LC and two or three other mfrs), 168gr and 175gr SMKs, H4895 powder, and is loaded pretty darned hot. I realize that anyone can load these same components and tune it for your specific rifle, but somehow every batch of Georgia Arms standard Match I've bought has been super accurate in my Savage and Marlin bolt guns. I'm talking "clover leaf groups every single time" accurate. I shot my first almost-one-hole groups with it recently. Across all the ammo I've shot, and across many different lots, Georgia Arms has been absolutely the most accurate in my Savage FCP-K and Marlin XS7. Not sure why or how. Doesn't make sense that I can't load something as good or better. But I can't seem to.

So, if you can stand the wait times and if you can tolerate the often contradictory info from GA customer service, the GA Match .308 may be some the most accurate long range ammo available at any price. Gotta see if it works in your weapon, and ensure that it isn't too hot for your rifle. I get a sticking bolt from time-to-time but no other pressure indications.

YMMV.
