I have a good problem: which gun to sell or neither:
I have a saiga 308 w/ 22" barrelthat is pretty tricked out: bipod, side-folding and telescoping stock, decent 3x9x40 scope and nice scope mount, fully converted to all black tactical, and I have original wood stock and trigger. Has new G2 trigger, and I have about 5 mags of different sizes.

My other semi auto 308 is DPMS AR 10 style Oracle w/ 16" brl and a nice scope, and high end magpul furniture. Has the dust cover and forward assist.
Has fore grip w/ pop-out bipod, etc.

I realize either scope can easily be removed or changed out, so scopes r not a real factor in decision of which to sell.

Both are in like new condition w/ about 100 rounds fired from each, and both look like new.
What would u say each is worth?
What is better to hold onto?
I like different things about each: The DPMS I love 4 manuverability and I could actually see hunting hogs or something with that. The Saiga I like for its folding stock, and all-around bad ass look, but it is heavy and can be awkward in the field. Both shoot well.

Which to sell? OR keep em both and sell all my AR 15's. What is the point of .223 anyway? You can't hunt large game with it.

For hunting the game your indicating, you would be better off selling your AR15's and keeping the 2 rifles chambered in 308 for the above purpose IMO.

AR15's are a dime a dozen, and will also be easier to aquire should you change your mind later.

I sold my AR15's off back when everyone and their mother just had to have one, as thier little heads were filled with the fear of not ever being able to own one.

I kept the M14 types, as I prefer them for hunting. ( Hog, deer, black bear and elk so far.)

Future plans include hunting brown bear and moose with the same rifles.

If you can consistently hit inside a 6" circle with the saiga at 200 yds keep it.

I think the window has past to sell AR15's for any decent money unless you don't have much in them. I would keep keep the AR15's and the DPMS, sell the Saiga and wait for the next gun scare to sell the AR15's but that's me.

Yeah - how do YOU shoot each gun? Without knowing that it sounds like the only plus for the Saiga (in your description) is that it looks badass.

Also fragout is right - the time to sell EBRs has passed (for now). I'd hold on to the AR's (and the Saiga too, unless you need the scratch) until another scare comes.

Honestly I would keep both unless you really need the money. Saiga's have appreciated a lot over the years, and the AK market is stronger than he AR market. I would most likely reco figure the s308 if it were me. You have realized what a lot of shooters come to realize, that putting lots of stuff on one's gun sometimes just makes it heavy. Said another way, what looks cool isn't always what is useful to have on the gun. Now if what you are really after is you want to own just one gun that is just right, I'd sale both and buy a LaRue OBR. With an OBR you from a function standpoint I doubt you'd ever miss either, just don't put cheesy grip pods and the like on it.

Thanks,
so I do need some $.
I will sell at least 1 AR, keep 1, and see if i can get decent $ for the other.
The Saiga is more unique and solid, but really only useful if the SHTF.
Can't c taking it out in the field.
The DPMS 16" seems to me 2 b a better SHTF gun than an AR as it can shoot farther and harder, and can feasibly b used to hunt.
I may just take what I can bear 2 part with all to the gun show and put a price I can be happy with, and let the market decide.

Thoughts?

i have a saiga 308 and a lr308, from my experience the dpms will sell faster and the saiga would be a hard sell for descent money. cut the saiga down to 16in and keep them both.

I would like to have an AR10, but, no money for one of them. I guess I will just have to gat by with my MAS 49/56 in 308, which runs perfect by the way.....chris3

Thanks: basically all that proved that it's a tough call...
and I'm not the only one who feels that way! ;-)
The funny thing is, I managed to sell 2 AR 15's at show today, and also sold my Judge (my taste in revolvers has matured) and the result is that when I found a like new DPMS 308 w/ 9 mags and a scope and higher mount , I bought it! lol
Now I am down to 1 keeper AR 15 (that I may sell next scare) and up to 3 semi auto 308's, and feel pretty happy about it.
I wonder which DPMS to sell now? ;-)
This is why this whole adventure never ends...!
