Have read alot of good things regarding this bullet.

Could I have some load suggestions for the .308 especially relating to OAL. Am in Australia so will probably be using ADI powders.

All 110 gn load suggestions welcome, doesn't have be the Hornady.

Ta, Steve.

I did a bunch of fooling around with 110 gr and .308 a few years ago. I don't think I ever got the same level of performance as with 150 gr out or my BAR, and like the heavier bullet for hunting deer. I've loaded the 110 VMax in my 300 WSM as well.

11/6/06 308 Win 110 gr Hornady Vmax 46 gr Varget 2.65 OAL

8/13/06 308 Win 110 Horn SP 32.9 gr H4895 2.55 OAL

I use this load for out to 300 yards (I use a different load for distances beyond that). Very accurate in my P-Dog rifle (5 shot groups = .231" @ 100 yds.). As a additional note, my rifle doen't like Winchester cases and while testing them, my 5 shot group size opened up to 1.495". It's really amazing that just changing the case reduced/increased the group size so much.

Case - LC 96 "Match"
Primer - Winchester LR
Powder - IMR 4895 (47.0 grains)
Bullet - Hornady 110 grain VMAX
COL - 2.812
Velocity - 3039 FPS

The Winchester case will hold a lot more powder than the military "match" case. It is thinner and does weigh less, however, they just don't seem to last as long because of this.

The loads I use with the LC 96 Match cases provide all that I need, so the use of commercial cases isn't needed.

ROBCTWO: Hornady lists 2.740" minimum COAL for the 110 V-max in .308

I see that you are well under max powder charge with your load. However, I'm curious as to how you decided to go significantly shorter for your load development?

I have no idea where the OAL came from. It might have been dictated by the length of the box magazine on the BAR. Always a good idea to check anything you see on the internet against your own manuals.

I do have a Savage 10FP in .308 now, and will be shooting more this summer. Will probably lengthen out any new loads to at least 2.75 or 2.8 for the Savage.
