:banghead:(TX) Looking to purchase rifle bullets for 7.62X54 MN .310 or .311 dia. 180gr or 174gr. FMJ or SPBT. would buy 200 or 300 bullets. Jacketed only.
Thanks !

Prvi Partizan Ammunition & Components are about the only company I have found that even makes a SPBT bullet in that caliber. Here is what they make in that caliber with their Item number. Graf & Son is the only online dealer I have found that carries PPU components and they have been out for a long time. Might check with your LGS to see if they can order you some from the PPU-USA distributor.

Art. Calibre Dia. (inch) Bullet Type Bullet Weight (g) Bullet Weight (gr)
B-219 303 0.311 FMJ BT 9.70 150
B-437 303 0.311 FMJ BT 11.00 170
B-143 303 0.311 FMJ BT 11.30 174
B-169 303 0.311 FMJ BT 11.80 182
B-006 303 0.311 FMJ BT 12.30 190
B-382 303 0.311 SP BT 9.70 150
B-125 303 0.311 SP BT 11.70 180

Look for 303 caliber, as they will be the size you're looking for. Sierra, Speer, Hornaday, Lapua, & Prvi Partizan make them. Some may be listed as 7.7mm. Grafs & Sons has Sierra 303 (.311") 150 gr. SP in stock for $30 per 100. Lapua 303 (.310") 200 gr. BTFMJ at $414 pre 1000.

Looked on Powder Valley and they are out of all their .311" at this moment.

The Serria Match King is a 174 grain boattail hollow point in that caliber as well. It is not for hunting though. Also if you have slugged your barrel and know the exact measurements of your barrel you might try here for some bullets to use. They run right at $25 to $26 per 100.

I went through a Mosin and SMLE craze several years ago and although 99% of my loads were with cast bullets, I bought a few 150 gr. .312" Hornady bullets. They were crazy accurate in everything I shot.

I load for the 7.62x54 and I use the Speer and Sierra .311 and even the Hornady .312 in bores from .310 to .314 with excellent accuracy and no pressure problems.
I have been doing these loads for over 25 years and have never had any issues or complaints with my loadings.
The bullets range in weight from .123 to 200 grains.
One of my most accurate loads recently was with a Finnish M-27 custom that I used the Hornady 123 , .310 V-Max bullet and 52 grains of IMR-4320.
It was consistantly getting less than 1" groups at 100 yards with both a hot or cold barrel, with usually two shots touching.

Another favorite load is the Speer or Sierra .311 150 Gr SP with 46.0 of IMR-4064

Slugging the bore is a good Idea, and should be done for every rifle.
But you have limited choices in bullet selection and diameters.
If your bore is .310 then the .310 to .312 will all work fine, and even the .308 will shoot to 100 yards pretty good.
But if you have a Good barrel that is .314 as I have had before, even the .312 is not a good fit, but still shoots pretty good for a military rifle.
But it would not shoot very well at all with a .310 bullet like most of the Spam Can ammo.

7.62x54

:banghead:I guess I didn't make myself clear I know the size of my bore it is .310 but I have been shooting .311 bullets. I know what bullets are out there I wanted to know if any members might have bullets that they might part with. I am only interested in 175gr or 180gr.

I have 400-500pcs of 180gr for trade. Only looking for .280 Ross brass.

I woulda thought this would belong in the Buy, Sell and Trade: Reloading Components and Gear section located HERE:
http://www.thehighroad.org/forumdisplay.php?f=50

But honestly there are a lot more buyers than sellers posting there where .311 bullets are concerned, so if you're looking for reasonably inexpensive "blasting" bullets, I'd try here:
