For those velocities, just use Lee Liquid Alox, and skip the sizing. It'll probably give you better accuracy that way. Much less work too.
For over 1,200fps, I use Javalina 50/50 or Lee 50/50 stick alox bullet lube. But, below 1,500 fps, the lube won't matter. I have shot a .311 Spitzer Gas check bullet with just Lee tumble lube w/gas check to 2,000fps or so with H4227 and excellent accuracy through an SKS (better than any Mil-Spec. ammo through this gun).
I have to run the bullets through the sizer to seat gas checks, so I just lube them too, normally. The above was just an experiment to see how well the T-L worked, since Lee makes a mould just for this use. (Mine was not the T-L mould though)
This past Sunday, I was working on a load for my HBTR (hillbilly tactical rifle), a Glenfield-30 in .30/30. I tried 28.5 and 32.9gr of IMR-3031 with a Lee 150 FNGC and sized .311 with Javalina and Hornady GC, F-L sized brass and crimped to crimp groove.
The heavier charge was a "working" max with velocites of 2,350fps and was giving groups around 1.5" @50yds.. This will get tried on some deer this fall. Lighter load was running about 1.7-2.0" and 2,150fps.
Not too bad for a Micro=groove barrel, HUH ?
This rifle stunk for accuracy with cast bullets until I had cleaned it about 3-x with Copper solvent, and removed what I thought was some light pitting from mid-section of barrel. "Pits" are now gone, and even the dozen or so jacketed rounds I've shot through this gun since, have been much more accurate.
So, be sure to REALLY clean that barrel to get out any copper fouling before shooting CAST bullets. Some barrels it dosen't seem to matter, others it is CRITICAL for accuracy.
