I had recently purchased a new ruger single seven with the 7.5" barrel in the novel 327 federal mag.
As some of you may recall in another thread I was looking to score some brass. On a recent road trip to okc I managed to do just that in the form of a 50rd box of Federal American Eagle 100 grain soft points.
I made it to the range today and launched some of these over my chrony and the results were eye opening even for someone jaded as me who has loaded for 7.62x25 and 30carbine Blackhawks and even a 30-30 revolver.
The results of one cylinder was an Average of 1757 FPS with an ES of only 31 FPS
That is SMOKING and actually has me rethinking my previous offhand dismissal of the rounds capability for hunting somewhat. I can't wait to get to handloading for this bad boy.
