Thinking of using them on my carry G19. You can never have too many bullets in a SD situation, right? I realize it might be difficult to dress around them, but hey...one never knows when he/she will need the extra rounds due to stress-induced inaccuracy or have to fight off a gang of angry bikers.

Just kidding. I saw them for $29 and thought, while somewhat impractical, they might make for fun toys at the range.

Who here uses them? Do they work as reliably as the stock 17/19/26 mags? I'm also interested in knowing how they change the balance of the gun. No doubt it'll be heavier with the 33 rnd mags, but do they make the muzzle tip in either direction, forcing the shooter to compensate? Thanks in advance. I'm not set on getting them, but thought about ordering one or two just for kicks.

I bought one of these a while back. Fun as a novelty but really served no purpose. Ran flawlessly though. I really wouldn't want one in a SD situation. Some people think the more rounds the better but round count really is overrated. What matters to me is who can hit their target FIRST and more often.

I have a few. I certainly don't use them for carry, but they are a fun range toy. Plus the antis would **** themselves if they saw them, which alone is reason enough for me.

I have never had any problems at all in terms of reliability--they are made by Glock after all. They do somewhat shift the balance of the gun to the rear but I have found I am more accurate when using them, which I attributed to the weight of all those extra rounds decreasing felt recoil.

I have had a few and love them alot. I never had a problem with any of them. I actually carry one or two in the truck just in case. I also carry g17 mags for my g19. I like the extra pinky room for my big paws.

Thanks for the info, that's exactly what I'm looking for.

I've found these ranging in price on the web from $24.99 to $69.95 :uhoh: Is there any difference as long as it's the Glock mag (I know there is a generic version as well)?

I've had the chance to shoot a G18 on several occasions, and some of those times were with 33 round mags. They never failed to feed all the rounds all the time, no matter how long you held the trigger back. So worry not about reliability.

(I know there is a generic version as well)?
Scherer makes those. I've got a couple for my Sub 2000. They work fairly well but the feed lips are entirely plastic unlike factory Glock mags that have metal (steel?) feed lips.

In hindsight I should have spent the few extra bucks for factory Glock mags.

The only time I've used a 30-something round factory Glock magazine was in a Glock 18... worked great. :D

I would stick to the factory glock mags vs. Scherer. The 33rd mags are fun at the range. A glock 26 with one of them is a very interesting sight, but it works. The most practical application is probably with a 9mm carbine like the Kel-tec sub2k (interesting option for an urban BOB with a few 33rd mags).

+1 for the factory Glock 31/33 rounders

I use two of them, and want to buy several more. I don't have any problems shooting them accurately, especially at short distances (SD range). I've run WWB round through them, as well as several types of SD hollow points through them, no issues whatsoever. Had to use them some before I could get it to full capacity, that's big spring to compress :)

I want to keep one (or more) in each vehicle, and a couple (or more) around the house, possibly in a few differnet locations. So if I have the G19, and later other variations, like the G26, if I have one of those on me, I'll have a large reload nearby, in addition to whatever I may have on me, in case of a multiple attacker situation, or if you are in a situation where you're taking fire under cover or something like that, and of course the whole SHTF/TEOTWAWKI thing, but I could see a potential for those in a limited percentage, but possible, situations...

And if nothing else, as others have said, it's something fun to mess w/ at the range.

i used to HATE the jumbo pistol mags, then saw one in a friends G19,and decided they may have their place after all. i grabbed one from CDNN for $29. fits my 17, and really looks goofy sticking out of my 26 !!:what:

Don't bother with the Scherer mags. Quality is nowhere near as good as the factory Glock mags. Plus they don't have the full metal lining, as was mentioned above. Spend the extra couple dollars for the factory Glock 18 mags.

One thing to consider is that in some states they have magazine limits. For example, in Ohio, any weapon capable of firing more than 31 rounds without reloading (except .22LR) is considered a machine gun, even if it is semiauto. The way the Ohio law is written, even loading it to 30 rounds is still illegal. Owning the mags is not illegal. Owning a gun they fit is not illegal. Putting the two together = machine gun.
So check your state laws, OK?

The Glock mags work all the time compared to the others. I don't think there needs to be another reason.

Thanks again for the info. The odd thing is that the cheapest AND the most expensive prices that I've found for the 33 round mags both appear to be for the Glock brand.

These were the least expensive of any I was able to find after a quick search: Clicky

"These are factory original, drop-free magazines for your Glock handgun. Glock magazines have a hardened steel insert encased in high tech polymer. This polymer coating protects the magazine and prevents deformation, even when dropped from a great height."

I'm assuming those are Glock OEM parts. If that's indeed the case, I think the price is very reasonable.

That's about the lowest I've usually seen them. You might get lucky by keeping an eye out over time, but I've seen 'em for $40 or so at gun shows and gun stores, plus tax...

Midway is proud of their shipping sometimes, so see what the shipping costs. The only other deal I saw was impact guns had 'em for $25 for awhile and for a short time w/ free shipping, but now seems they're $32 plus shipping, so if Midway's shipping isn't bad, or if you can bundle it w/ another purchase to justify shipping, then it's pretty good.

Looks like this is out of stock right now, but I bought one of these $30 range bags from them, it's very cool, and great buy...FWIW in case they get some in again http://http://www.midwayusa.com/eproductpage.exe/showproduct?saleitemid=259680

Have fun

I guess a 33 round mag on a Glock 17 could be a good substitute for a semi-auto UZI/Tec-9 type weapon (if you're going semi-auto anyway). For my G19, I don't really see the point although I own a few because they are damn cool and because I can own high cap mags in this great country.

Tried my buddy's generic-brand (scherer?) 33 rounder and got FTF - definately would not trust it anywhere but at the range.

My Glock-brand 33 rounders work just as well as any other Glock mag (100% reliable)

Do the 33 rounders protrude below the grip, or are they flush fitting? I'm intrigued by them but would prefer something that fits flush (or at least close to it).

Been shootin' GLOCKs for a while. You gotten good advice here. Use ONLY GLOCK Factory (check the baseplate for logo) mags. The G18 (33 rd 9mm) is stone reliable but just a toy for the G19. G17/19 mags have a large capacity already, the handling of the G19 suffers substantially by running the G18 mag. I won't trade the ability to make fast, accurate shots for not having to reload. It's just too easy to reload.

Here's a true-ism you can take to the bank..."YOU WILL RUN OUT OF TIME BEFORE YOU WILL RUN OUT OF AMMO".

This is the truth, as mentioned...
Here's a true-ism you can take to the bank..."YOU WILL RUN OUT OF TIME BEFORE YOU WILL RUN OUT OF AMMO".

Now why anyone wants to have to carry that many rounds around is beyond me, in a day to day situation, it is their determination and up to them.**

Using that logic carrying a firearm day to day is foolish and a waste of energy...

Just let people do what they want and quit pushing your ideas of what one "needs" off on them.

Geeze. :fire:

Whatzamatter Kilgor? You gotta' a buncha' G18 mags in your pouch & now you've got ya' feelings hurt? The OP opened with "thinking about using them on my carry G19" so he's obviously ASKING for ideas, theories, lessons, concepts, practicality, and general opinions on uber-hicap GLOCK mags for his CCW. He can carry an MP5 under his cowboy hat if he wants. What are you so frosted about?
