338 ammo question

25-06 is a great light duty round. the .264 is an awesome light duty round that can be stretched into heavier duties than a .25-06. The quarter bores are seriously lacking bullets with decent BC. The .264 (6.5MM) is one of the kings of long range and great bullet choices.

Big picture I don't think that it makes much difference to outcome of 99% of hunts.

I don't know much about the 225 gr SST I've never used them.

Now that i have my 338 all set up and ready I just need to start saving my pennies for the sako 85 classic in 25-06. 200,000 pennies to be exact lol.

This is one of my bolt guns of choice. I load a Sierra 215 game king for about anything I can hunt, including coyotes here in the windy winter. Great for long range on Antelopes. Sad to say I have not to date had a clean shot on a ELK, so Mule Deer is my biggest kill so far. Over kill vs underkill ???

I have shot over 20 moose and caribou with a 338 winny. The best bullet today in my opinion is the Trophy Bonded Bear Claw, I use the 225 gr and it does an admirable job, great penetration and very little meat loss. Stay away from partitions as the front half tends to disintegrate and ruin more meat. Also the Swift Aframe is as good as the TBBC, it just expands a bit more. Stay with the 225's.
