Honestly, this is just gratuitous footage of 357 fireball. I knew these rounds would put on quite show, but given this was in full sun, I was rather impressed, this is 125gn Hornady American Gunner JHP out of a 4" Ruger Security Six. Love when you catch the ring. The guy who took my avatar pic tried, but couldn't. Fireballs rock.

When I first read the thread title, I thought it would be about a .350 Legend Short wildcat.....

Here's my contribution - friend shooting my gun.

    2 3/4" M69 - 23.0gr Accurate 11FS, 240gr JSP

    Same gun - 24.0gr H110, 240gr JSP

    5%20ea%20H110_%202.75%20M69_%20Jeff%20Outside_Moment.jpg

Funny thing, I've never noticed the fireball when shooting the gun under the same conditions.

I shoot a 357Max, the best time I ever had was one spring evening; warm and damp and mosquitoes were terrible, fired a few shots and noticed a bunch of near dead mosquitoes on the bench, started waiting for my forearms to fill with blood suckers and then fire a round, my accuracy went down, but it was a great time watching the pile of dead and dying blood suckers...

The fireball from a snubbie might be a better fight stopper than the round itself!

You know, that gives me an idea. There's a lot of energy present after launching the projectile, and for some reason I recalled that air toy that propelled a blast of air.
I wonder if it's possible to harness that remaining energy in such a way it strikes the target as well.

Back in the day we used to have a fella come out to shoot a 2.5" 44mag snubbie. He could barely hit the target with it, but I don't think he cared. He just enjoyed the fireball and blast wave. It was definitely one of those ear plugs AND muffs type of guns.

I would opine that a fireball that sets your hair on fire is too much. :D

The shortest barrel I have for my DW 357Max is a 6" and it is a flame thrower, as well as being ultra loud, I guess I'm lucky I was out bid on the 4" set for it, I surely would have bolted it on and fired it, at least once...

Ok, so not a revolver. But still lots of fun to make fireballs with.

Not all shooting of firearms is seriousness or strictly business or training to kill some bad guy. My firearms are for my pleasure and enjoyment and I really don't even think about them as being weapons. But don't think I don't have a few readily available around the house.

Yes, fireballs are much more impressive when dusk approaches.

What's wild about the images I originally posted, that I just realized, is how fast the flash is. Those are consecutive frames of a slo mo video I took with my phone, and it picks up the bullet in flight. Figure that bullet is traveling at close to 1500fps, that fire ball is not there long 20190210_232419.jpg 20190210_232520.jpg 20190210_232749.jpg

Someone - Elmer Keith? - used to refer to some pistol rounds as "BBD loads". BBD = Blind, Burn, and Deafen. He may have had 44 Magnum in mind, but the 357s shown above will do for me.
