I am looking for some data for 357 magnum loads with 190gr hunters supply cast bullets. I have worked up a few loads that seem safe, but would like some input from people who have more experience with that weight. A charge of 12.5 gr of h110 gave me right at 1000fps. This seems pretty low for a 6inch barreled revolver, and I assume part of that may be from the fact I used non-magnum primers. I have gotten my hands on some magnum primers and have begun working on a load again after not messing with it for a few months. I was very pleased with groups of .8inch at 35yards with the 12.5 gr of h110, and think with a better rest and more brass prep that could be improved.

Does anyone have a pet load? I am loading for a mix of power and accuracy as this is a hog hunting gun, and if the opportunity on a short range shot on a deer arises while carrying it, I'll take it.

Just got back from the range, I tested 12gr-13gr h110 in .2gr increments watching for problems. I did not have any sticky cases and no flattened primers, but decided 13gr was a good stopping point for now. Accuracy was great with all the loads, with a half inch 3shot group for 13gr and for 6 shots it opened up to an inch. Zero brass prep, all Winchester brass but mixed in a bucket of brass that has been fired 2-4 times(mostly light loads except these new loads).

I load a 187gr NOE rnfp to 1250 fps with either H-110 or 2400 if I try for any more the cases get a little stiky on extraction so I stopped at 1250 fps

This was out of a GP100 6" barrel.

I feel the capacity to push a heavier bullet faster would best be left to the 357MAX

& for hunting a good weight & flat trajectory is the 140 gr. , but if ya can master the rainbow trajectory of the heavies that`s all the gooder !!

GP100man, what was your charge weights for the h110 and 2400? I chose the 190gr(I also load 200gr Cast Performance) because of the nice wide flat meplat for good tissue damage and deep straight penetration. I feel this is a must for using the 357mag on deer.

I like 180g LRNFPGC, they have a nice wide meplat and there is a good bit of load data. I have settled on 15g of Lil'Gun with regular primers. Works well in both of my S&Ws, a 13 3" and a 65 4", and in my 1894C Marlin
