I think the biggest thing the .357 mag has going for it is that it can have both expansion and penetration on man sized targets. Most other defensive rounds have to choose, either deep penetration or expansion. Most other rounds hitting a secondary body part on the way in (such as an arm or leg) will not penetrate to an "acceptable" depth. A .357 mag will expand and then continue right on without much trouble.

i wonder how the .45lc rounds from buffalo bore would compare to the .357mag. not from buffalo bore, standard sd loads.
