Yesterday, 3 of us got togethor for a very informal and just plain fun shoot in the west desert in UT. 12Volt, his Brother in law..Doug and I all met up and ventured out west for some fun in the sun...it was well over 100 deg. most of the day.
We had some very interesting happenings upon finding a proper place to shoot.....alot of this area is motorcycle/atv heaven on the weekends and we found a place outside of the "safe=no shooting zone"..yes there are posted signs
We were setting up for the shoot and had a couple of motorcycle dudes (I am one of them...life long) That thought they could just ride around our "range"....we tried to get their attention but to no avail. Finally, we put our ears on and let a couple of 45 ACP shots off. Sorry, no disrespect to M/C riders everywhere...but it worked. We just didnt want anything stupid to happen.
We brought "god knows?" how many weapons with us....Id say close to 20 or so. AR, AK's, 45's, 9mm's bla bla bla.

We first set up a make shift IDPA style course, setting up 2 cardboard "Doug" targets with typing paper as the A zone. These were set up about 20' from each other and were approx. 7 and 10 yds from our
shooting position. Upon the signal we were to draw and double tap each
target, at the last shot the time ended. Each miss added a second to our score. Very cool exercise. The best time was 3.09 seconds with draw time and four hits in the A zone.

We then ran the same targets with the shooter being in the same location and upon the draw command...fire 2 shots while backing up and once crossing a line, firing one final shot into the other target. Same miss = a 1 second deduction. This was harder...try moving and shooting at the same time...very educational. The best time was in the mid 5 second range.

Our other portion of this setup was a plain draw and double tap situation.
From an uncovered carry position the best time for a draw and double tap was 1.41 seconds...by no means a record setting score but not bad either.
This was scored the same way...A zone hits and - a second for each miss.
A couple of times there were no misses.

We then played with the long guns....AR15's and a couple of very very nice AK 47's....Dougs Russian sniper setup was amazing. See the pic in the Automatic Hand guns section for a pic of our artillary.

Using these guns we were easily taking out the "trained to be aggresive water bottles" we had brought along. They were mad and hungary to boot! :scrutiny: We got em all at a range of approx. 75 yds.

We had a visit from a couple of other guys that were shooting skeet very close to us. Interesting conversation and gentlemen.

I gotta add this just to say :neener: At about 75 yds I took out one of the more aggresive water bottles with my CZ PCR, ok...it was my second shot but hey whos counting? ;)

All in all...we had a RIOT! If your in UT and want to join the "Official Utah Red Neck CZ Club" We plan on doing these more often when it cools off a little. I thought I was melting for a while yesterday...thank god for cloud cover!

Hope you enjoyed this read.....and Shoot well.

Sounds like you guys had a blast. It has been awhile since I've just gone out shooting for just fun. It seems lately it is all serous practice or matches. Sometimes just killing aggresive water bottles is just as fun.

Yep, that looks like loads of fun. As I mentioned on the other thread, you look to be in my area, judging from your surroundings. Where were you shooting at? Or rather, what were you close to?

Great range report. ;)

We were actually in Tooele County. We went west from Lehi, out past Cedar Fort and went down the Pony Express Road a ways.
It was a great time :D
