357 Mag powder for Lee Auto Disk

I have a Lee Classic Cast Turret with the Lee Deluxe Auto Disk.

I'm looking for a good powder that flows EASY with the Auto Disk.

I'll be shooting Missouri Bullets' $158 gr lead SWC for a 357 magnum.

Can someone please recommend a good powder to use that works well with the Auto Disk.

W231/HP38, Bullseye, Green Dot all meter very well in my Pro Auto Disk.

2400 or #9 works well also. 357 is just plain fun to load...........

Do yourself a big favor and get one of these. You replace the discs with this Lee Auto-Disk Adjustable Powder Charge Bar, and you never have to take your powder drop assembly apart again. You also gain an infinitely adjustable volume of powder instead of what Lee thinks you need with the discs.

I have not used it in 357 but Ramshot True blue flows like water in my lee auto disk, you may have a little seepage around the disk, it does not bother me though.

2400 or #9 works well also.

I agree, both give good loads and they meter well. The other classic powder for magnum loads would be H110, and it also meters like water.

I run 2400 with that exact same bullet. I use the adjustable charge bar and it is dead on every throw with 2400.

Coat the disks with a #2 pencil inside and out, the graphite will act as a nice lubricant and your powder will flow better.

I have not had good luck with 2400 in my Auto Disk measures. I have the charge bar, but for whatever reason that doesn't seem to help. On the other hand, I have had very good success with the Auto Disk using HS-6, Titegroup, Trail Boss, and AA#5. The problem is that I don't like any of those powders for .357 Magnum. 2400 is my favorite .357 powder, right now I am using my RCBS Uniflow, as it is always spot on with 2400. I dump the charge through a funnel and the powder through expander die into the case when I get to that step with my Classic Turret. I'd like to try AA#9 and see if it meters better with the Auto Disk, but I still have a bunch of 2400 and no extra money to buy AA#9 to try out, so I make due.

The Accurate pistol powders meter like water in the Lee measures - they're what I've been using the most of for decades. You should find appropriate loads for #5, #7 or #9, depending on what you want the load to do.

The adjustable charge bar works well with any of these powders, although for purely aesthetic reasons I personally use the fixed disk if it gives the charge I'm looking for.

I agree with josephbw.

The Adjustable Powder Charge Bar allows you to control EXACTLY how much powder you use.

By the way, I use Titegroup for 38 spl, 357 mag & 45 Colt. Works very well in my
Lee Pro Auto Disc Powder measure.

With lead bullets in a .357 Magnum I use either W231/HP-38 or HS-6. Both are Ball Powders so they meter quite well. I also use the same setup you have.

Accurate #9 is a fantastic powder choice. Although I love 2400, I plan on trying some #9 this spring myself with my 357 magnums and Ruger only 45 colt loads. I think you will like the way #9 meters. I use a lot of #2 and it flows through my Lee Auto Disk like water.

Go to WW or wherever and buy a fishtank aerator. $15.00. Tape it to the powder measure and plug it in. Constant vibration. Will settle almost any powder. Even the flake. I put the aerators on my Dillons and flake powders ain't no problem.

Also, you can buy used fish tank aerator for next to nothing at yard sales / Craigslist.
