.357 Mag "RIFLE" For Whitetails

I'd put a William's other receiver peep on it. Scopes are for bolt guns. Little lever carbines beg for receiver sights. They carry in the field a lot easier without a gawd awful optic in the way, too. :D Of course, my primary hunting rifles have scopes. I like the little carbine as a knock around gun. I've really not hunted much with it.

Im just curious, why do you want a .357 mag for whitetails?
If it's to meet Indiana's pistol cartridge rifle regs, you can get a little festive if you think outside the box.
Check out the .358 WSSM wildcat.

If that's not why you want a .357 for whitetails, then never mind. Have fun.

Used a buddy's 92 Rossi for something different one day back in the early 90's. Shot two doe,one in the morning-one in the afternoon. Used factory Rem. 158 gr. semi-jacketed hollow points. Both were about 70-80 yards away and both dropped right there with behind the shoulder hits. Sert01

I killed this cow elk with two shots from my 357 MAG. Distance was approx 50 feet for first shot. Second shot was taken as the animal trotted away; distance was approx 70 feet.

In my opinion, 357 MAG is quite effective if the hunter keeps his shooting to within the range of a modern compound bow. In other words, hunt like an archer with the 357 MAG.
