What size primers are you using for your 357 max? I'm using IMR 4227. Will be using 158gr and 180gr bullets. Also do you have a pet load with this powder? Using MGM 20in barrel. Thanks in advance.

I don't own a Maximum but the loading manual that's near by says small rifle primers. The manual is an older Speer manual No 11. A friend had a T/C Contender 357 Max and his biggest problem was case head seperations from his over max loads.

On lesser loads I used sp mag primers ,but for upper performance loads use sr primers only , as a blown primer at those pressures ain`t fun for you or the firing pin bushing.

Cci#41 are what I use with up to 30g of aa1680 for my TC encore with 180ssp bullets seated very long

This is obviously an encore only loading

posted via that mobile app with the sig lines everyone complains about

The Hodgdon Load Data Site lists a Remington 7 1/2 primer.
The new Hornady 9th Edition manual also lists a Remington 7 1/2 primer.
Speer #12 lists a CCI-400 primer.
Lyman #49 doesn't list data for the .357 Maximum.

Standard Federal small rifle. Mine.run through a wheel gun. Fun to hand to some know it all that has been shooting .357 magnums all his life loaded hot with 210 grain bullets.
