How much is this gun and is there any problems with them? Im looking to spend around 450 is there a better gun out there for this price?

I have an LCR in .38 and they're great guns. For the .357 model I think they were going for around $450 in Ohio last time I looked.

Something to consider: If you're set on .357 you may want something a little heavier than the LCR. When I shoot +p out of my .38 it deals quite a bit of punishment to my wrist and the thought of .357 in that thing scares me. The 1.78inch barrel will also produce a lot of muzzle flash if you shoot .357 in the dark. If you're set on the LCR I recommend picking up the .38, this is more than enough power in a pocket sized revolver. If you're set on .357 you may want to look at heavier concealed carry revolvers.

Just my $0.02

I paid 500 for mine in MO it was brand new it shoots 357's just fine. I love mine its my ccw gun:D

It has an incredible DA trigger. I can testify the trigger is better than any other Ruger DA revolver. I'm not extremely experienced with Smiths, but it was better than the two samples I have tried (a J frame and an L frame). The grip seems very comfortable, but I'm not sure I'd want to put full power magnums through it very often.

I love the one I bought for my wife. It was about $500otd iirc. The .357 is not too bad, I can put about 20 rounds downrange before flinching.

I got my KLCR for $395, new. Its a great CC gun. It is a real eye opener, if you have never fired 357s from a light weight snubby. I have read of only a very few issues with the LCRs, so I feel they are good to go.

New & out-the-door, they'll run just under $500 around here for the .357 models. I've been able to shoot .357s and .38s out of one of the .357 models a few times. I have to admit that .357s out of the LCR are a handful, for lack of a better phrase. They're not painful to shoot, but I wouldn't want to shoot a whole bunch of them, lest they become painful.

Chaddy,

For the money they are very hard to beat. The triggers are most excellent and if you try one you'll see what all the hub bub is about. They aren't pocket guns for me, but on or in the belt they carry well in a good holster.

The LCR's aren't range or target guns, buy a GP if that's what your after. Recoil is very subjective and I don't find it as extreme as some others have reported. If you're used to shooting .357's it's not that bad.

It's your dough and I hope your happy with whatever gun you end up with. We will be waiting for a range report when you make your choice....:)

There a great *bang* for your buck (pun intended), and from what I've read on Gunblast, extereamly reliable even after several thousand rounds.

My only gripe with'em is that I don't like the trigger return. For some reason - and maybe it's just the way I pull the trigger - the trigger doesn't reset quickly enough, and I don't get the drum to rotate on the next pull. Probably just me, but I'll spend the extra $150 to buy a S&W 642 or 638...and this is coming from a VERY big Ruger fan.

I have two LCR's, a .38 special and a .357 magnum. I've had them both for over a year.
I like the .38 special to drop in the pocket of my slacks, in a pocket holster, when I'm dressed up.
I carry the .357 LCR in a Strong side pancake holster, under an untucked shirt, for every day carry.
I love them both. I have a couple SP101's that I like to shoot, and a GP100, 3", too.
But the LCR's are just so much lighter to carry, every day.

Gander mountain want 559$ for one. Anybody thank that's a fair price or should I look at something else?

^^^^^ Where I live Gander Mountain is about $125 to $150 higher in price than the local independant shops for guns in that price point. Try a smaller local gun dealer if you have any in your area.. The savings could buy you a good amount of ammo to start with, and you would be supporting the local ma and pop shop.

Gander mountain has the highest priced guns I've ever seen in ohio.

I got mine for $449 at a show in Pasadena Texas in April. It was about $30 more for the .357 than the LCR .38, but I knew if I didn't spend the extra $$ I would regret it. It's fun having one revolver that can shoot two different cartridges.

When shooting .357 at a hanging paper silouhette at ten feet, the shock wave tears the target out and it falls on the floor at the indoor range, almost every shot. Other shooters come over to my lane :what:

After about 5 shots, on the way home, my hand up to the elbow is throbbing just a little bit...

I love my Ruger KLCR .357mag which I purchased for $450 OTD. I carry it on a daily basis loaded with either Speer GD 125gr .357mag or Speer GD 135gr .38spl+P Short Barrel IWB or OWB Crossdraw. Easily concealed, sweet trigger, very accurate (even at longer distances), and contrary to some beliefs, can be more a "fun to shoot" gun (see vid by nutnfancy on YouTube having "fun.") Shooting the mag loads does have a kick, but is easily manageable for most. I have installed the XS BIg Dot, and Eagle Rosewood FBI Grips to "dress" it up a little. Take care and good luck.

Chaddy,

Look somewhere else.....even ordering from Buds ($451.00 ships free) and a transfer is cheaper. Don't waste money at Gander Mountain.

Please post some pics Doc.

Others as well.

What's the consensus on the 125 and 110 gr. loads in the KLCR?

I always liked the 110 gr. TAC -XP in my 38+P LCR,

DT38B-4.gif

(light recoil and superb accuracy)

However, DT's
advertised velocity for the 110 .357 Mag is far above the .38+P.

I'd like to hear about your holsters/speedloaders/strips as well.

Have one. Love it. Get it.

Blackhawk's suede holster for S&W J frame 2" fits like a friggin' glove and disappears IWB. And it's well priced.

Enjoy!
