I got an email telling me the last parts to complete my 1911 build has been shipped, been 9 mo in the making. Now I need to come up with some load suggestion using the powders I have on hand. This build has 2 uppers, 1 in 9mm the other in 357sig. I have an abundance of WSF, WST, W231, W296, like 16#+ of each. These are the powders I use in my 9mm, 40cal, 357 Mag, and 458 SOCOM. I also have < pound of RL7, A2400, red-dot. I have very little Hodgdon's Universal and W540/HS6, not enough to make it worth while right now, my 20ga shot gun powder. I have the following bullets to chose from. 115gr XTP and 124gr RMR Match winners, with a few plated that are not the best for the 357 sig. WST is probably going to be too fast. I've found some load data using WSF and 231. The data for the WSF was for 147gr pill. A few loads using W296/H110 with 115gr and 124 gr. Since W296/H110 like to be full power this may work also.

Would be interested in seeing what Quickload has to say about W296, and WSF, I've wild catted off of QL data in the past when the 458 SOCOM. Most all of the load data is aimed at the newer powders.

Hmmm...

I haven't heard of anyone using 2400, but considering the burn rate is somewhere between Power Pistol and Acc#9, it might work out okay.

I confess, I'm not familiar with all those powders. But none of them are ones I consider to be popular in .357 Sig.

2400 has a similar burn rate to #9 but it's bound to take up quite a bit more room in the case. I'm not sure you could get enough in there to reach the full power of the cartridge. Alliant doesn't offer any load date for it.

In my limited experience with 357 SIG, and I've never used WSF. But in the scheme of burn rate things, I'd try WSF if I were to be trying to get the best horse power out of the cartridge.

All my parts showed up to finish my build today. Started priming brass. Going to start with WSF as I thing it will give me the best results of what I got to choose from.

For those who have Quick load. Can you please run me a load fill table using WSF with 115gr XTP @ 1.135", and 124gr RMR Match Winners HP @1.140" (max OAL), WSP primer. I have a case Volume (bottom of bullet to bottom of cup, primer pocket not included) measurement of 0.74 cc (g). This is actual measured volume with RMR. XP was 0.75cc (g).

Thanks in advanced.

None of the powders you have are ideal for the 357 SIG....

A few are workable .... WSF and 231 will be usable ....
But there are much better powders ....Long shot, HS6, Power Pistol, 572, BE 86, , AA#9, AS#7, the list continues ....
