My department's issued handgun is a G32. It seems to be a little more accurate than my personal Glocks, C21, G23 and about the same as my G30. I had a G27 for a BUG that I liked a lot until I stumbled onto a G33 at a price to good to pass up. When I shot the two side by side at 25 yards the G33 was way more accurate than the G27 and it was the equal to my G30 and the department G32. The G27 is gone. I doubt my experience is the rule, but I'm very impressed with my G33 / 357 sig's accuracy.

The issued ammo is Golden Saber 125 gr. Training ammo is whatever is the cheapest, all of it shoots well in the glocks.

The 357 Sig in a Glock 32 is my vehicle gun. I carry it in a fanny pack with two extra magazines and surefire light an Emmerson A-100.

Never had to take it out, but it is reassuring to have it in the vehicle.

Cost wise, the 357SIG costs the same as .40S&W. 9mm has always been the cheapest, and .45 the more expensive. I've yet to see factory .45 cheaper than the 357SIG. As with anything, buying in bulk is almost always cheaper, and easier.

357SIG has always been readily available, or at least before all the panic silliness, both online and in stores, and most of the gun stores around here seem to have some, as does Walmart, and we're out in the sticks.

Flash and blast wise, the 357SIG is not near as bad as a 357MAG shooting a 125 grain bullet from a 4" barrel. I've shot mine indoors and at dusk, and never noticed flash any worse than any other caliber. It does have a slightly louder bark than the 9mm.

Recoil wise, thats probably going to be the platform and more shooter perception than anything else. Out of my SIG's, I dont find it to be any "snappier" or heavier than anything else. If you shoot a .45, you'll probably find it has slightly less felt recoil, 9mm, slightly more, but nothing I'd call real noticeable, and certainly nothing to be a problem shooting it.

My brother has a Glock 23 in .40 which has a much more noticeable recoil impulse than any of my SIG's with the .40 barrel installed. I'm sure the power of the ammo isnt changing with the gun its being shot in, so its got to be grip angle and weight and maybe one or two other factors. Does that mean the .40 is "snappy"? Thats sort of depends on what you just shot and your impression of it.

The .357 SIG provides performance consistant with the .357 magnum without the extreme bang and muzzel flash. Louder than the .40 S&W yes but not much more than a 9mm +p. The real beauty of this particular cartridge is it's physical design: The necked down .40 case to a .355 bullet has virtually no faliure to feed problems, the slide is shoving a .355 bullet into a .40 hole. Truncated cone, hollow point, round nose lead, it just feeds flawlessly.

My first experience with the 357sig was about 6-7 years ago. I bought a Glock 31 at an awesome price. I took it out to the range with my Dan Wesson 1911. We were shooting at a small section of a log that was about 10 inches in diameter and about 18 inches tall.We turned the log on end and stapled a paper plate to it.
Using FMJ ammo in both the glock and the 1911, I put 15 rounds of 357sig on the plate, very accurate from about 20 yards. The log did not fall over. I took my DW 1911 and put one round in a fresh plate. The log fell over backwards. I told my friend that I will keep my 1911 on my hip for now. I dont know if this has any bearing on anything at all , that was just my initial experience. I do understand that other ammo with better ballistics and such will perform better.

357 sig ammo was very expensive back then, and hard to find (for me) as well.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol issues Glocks in 357sig. My department issues them as well in the form of a Glock 31. I like it, it is accurate and flat shooting. I dont like the muzzle flash though. I can easily see it during the day using Winchester 125gr fmj training ammo.
With that in mind, I have not fired our duty ammunition through it yet due to the department not letting us, so I dont know if the duty ammo will have less muzzle flash. I know this sounds like a safety concern, but it is not. Our training commitee shot our duty ammo though the pistols during their testing phase, so I know it will work in my pistol.
The 357sig has performed well in shootings that have been recorded. The 357sig is also an excellent penetrator when it comes to vehicle bodies.

I wouldnt mind having a 1911 chambered in 357sig, but I am still waiting on that to come around.

I shoot my G32 better than my 19,23,30 or 27. It is a great weapon and like someone else said Georgia Arms has a good price on practice ammo. I had a 33, but for me it was a little too much to hold onto unless you add a pinky extension and then you may as well have a 32 and more capacity.

Ammo cost and availability seems to scare a bunch more people away from it.

Yes, it appears to have better ballistics than 9mm and .40 but I don't think it's enough of an improvement to overcome some of the downsides.

I reload for it, and its not a big deal at all. One more step, maybe two if you lube. Accurate Arms has stated its the most consistent round they have worked with. Their powders are also the best to use, as they fill the case and eliminate any possibility of set back, not that thats really an issue either.

Cost and availability are really not an issue. It can be had just about anywhere, and even Walmart carries it. Online, its as plentiful as anything else, and as with anything eles, its the cheapest place to buy it.

It costs pretty much exactly the same as the .40S&W when bought in bulk, and its still a bit cheaper than .45ACP and a little more than 9mm.

I love my .40S&W and have shot whatever the full size glock in .357sig is, (31?) I like and if ammo were more reasonable I would buy a conversion barrell for my M&P. But it seems might pricey. Its one of those calibers that I like but not enough to justify the generally increased ammo costs. In all honesty I see myself buying a 9mm conversion for my M&P long before a .357sig.

Most recent purchase is a new in box Sig P226R "Govt Model" in .357 Sig...Nitron finish...seems to have been a production overrun for a law enforcement agency...comes with 3 hicaps, Siglite night sights and the SRT (short return trigger) already installed. I'm not much on Sig's with rails or night sights....I like the old school classic P series pistols but the deal was way too good to pass on.

See, a UMP in 357sig would probably be as much fun as a Thompson 1928 in 38super.

I have a Sig P226 that is chambered in .357Sig and .40S&W, I just swap barrels. I reload my own ammo so it's cheaper, fun and interesting. The .357Sig is treated like a rifle cartridge when reloading (resizing, lubing the case, etc...) and I get used S&B brass from my coworker. Unless you reload, that cartridge is fairly expensive to shoot.

I'm glad I picked up three boxes of 125 HST when I did, haven't seen it since. I've got a Glock 23 and 27 and eventually I will get .357 barrels for them. I think I will probably keep carrying .40, but if I shoot .357 significantly better I might give it a shot. After all lighter, faster bullets feel like they recoil less to me.

Anyone know of a .357 barrel for the CZ 40B?

+1 on the P239... it is a great CCW platform. I generally like hotter rounds like 357 Sig, and 10mm Auto. They are catching on... slowly.

I had the XD-357 HiCap service pistol but sold it as the grip was too skinny for my hands. Great pistol other than that....Had the SigPro and during a moment of weakness, sold it...I do miss that pistol. It was a great deal from CDNN to NIB with extras.
