Anyone ever heard of a pointy 357 magnum? I'm just curious because it seems it could greatly improve long range trajectory/ballistics, and its not like we have any feeding problems to worry about.

I don't think there are any existing rifle bullets of 357 diameter but theres no reason someone like Corbon couldn't pull it off

thoughts?

Take an aluminum truncated cone boolit mould, $20, and moddify it to a spitzer and try it.
My guess is it will work as you suggested with little noticeable gain. What is the end goal, long range target shooting? If you want to hunt, increase youe meplat size for a much cleaner kill.

The problem with a .357 Magnum spitzer bullet is not feeding as for an automatic, it is length. A spitzer bullet of a given weight will have to be seated deeper to go in any usual cylinder, which reduced powder space and limits the velocity you can give that more streamlined bullet. Note that Hornady makes the Leverevolution .357 only at 140 grains, and is still pretty blunt.

There are numerous pointed .35 rifle bullets (.358" versus .357" does not matter) to work with. Hornady makes 180 and 200 grain bullets that would do what you speak of. But you will have to shoot them in a Contender.
