Does anyone have a good load for a 200 grain bullet. Using a 14 inch TC Contender. My manual only has rifle data. Thank you.

Sierra Manual V has data. It lists 8 powders. Tell me what you plan to use and I can give you the data.

We shot factory loads last weekend out of this TC that is my friends. He asked me to post this question for him. When I get a hold of him I'll see what powders he has or wants to get and get back to you Greg Mercurio in a PM. Thank you. Might be a few days.

you be able to use the 375 rifle loads in the TC. you will just have to put up with the extra muzzle blast and the recoil won't be much fun

The difference between the rifle and Contender data is not large, but only 3 of the powders overlap. Yes factory cartridges can be used, but I think a steady diet of full power loads is going to loosen that Contender frame up sooner than later. Those pesky force vectors can't be ignored forever. :D

called my buddy .... gave him the powder list. We'll see whats available. Also passed on the rest of this info. Thanks. -----------------stand by-----------------

as long as you don't go above the standard pressure of the 375 you shouldn't have to worry about the frame. with the recoil involved I don't think you will be shooting it that much. I'm sure a somewhat reduced load will be more fun to shoot. if all a person is going to shoot max loads and above sooner or later you will deform the hinge pin and then you got some trouble. when I was shooting IHMSA matches in the early 1980's there was always the shooters who were looking for the 100% ram load (it doesn't exist) in the 44 mag. they were the people that deformed the hinge pin and had to send the gun back to TC to have it fixed. unfortunately they didn't learn that much and would do it again

I knew a couple of guys that blew the side plates off gassing up .375JDJs.:uhoh: I guess this is the sort of thing that spawned the Encore.

I've got both .375 Win and .375 JDJ barrels. Neither are especially nasty, but they are sharp, and not exactly "fun" after about 5 rounds. I generally play with TrailBoss loads for fun, reserving the full power loads for special occasions. A good set of custom grips that fit your hand can take lot of the drama out of either of these. I got a set from Bullberry (I think) and spent a lot of time with the wood shop tools to make them fit my hand. YMMV.

There is no load data for IMR-4198.

I had listed H4198 in my post.

Go slow, work up slowly. Have fun. :D
