Has anyone ever heard of a "38 Short Action?" My wife and I were in a Sportsman's Warehouse store last weekend. I needed a set of 38 Super dies. After looking for quite a while, my wife finally spotted a set that said "38 SA" on the box. I said, "Yeah, that's the ones." A young salesperson overheard and came over and asked if he could help. About time, I thought. But I told him, "No, I just need this set of dies." He looked at the box and said, "Well them are fer a 38 Short Action. Ya don't have a 38 Short Action do ya?" :banghead:
It's not like me (ask my wife) but I didn't lose it. I calmly informed the salesperson, "38 SA" probably means 38 Super Automatic. I even allowed him to save a little face by letting him explain how I wouldn't have to use lube with that set of dies because they're carbide. I figure he was about the best Sportsman's Warehouse could do for the starvation wages they probably pay their employees. Besides, I'm enabling Sportsman's Warehouse by shopping there. But honest to goodness - all that salesperson had to do was leave us alone!
Guess what? My new "38 Short Action" carbide sizing die worked fine for sizing a couple of hundred 38 Super cases last night.
