I carry a Colt Combat Commander (Series 70) in .38 super as my daily CCW. I've been carrying some factory ammo, but would like to work up a nice handload using 147 grain golden sabers. Any suggestions?

Other loads that you like for this caliber?

I don't load jacketed bullets in mine so I cannot help you there.

I can tell you that if you go for lead bullets, the followin have worked well for me.

Mild loads
8.0 grns of sr4756 with a 124 grn lasercast
5.5 grns of unique with a 145 grn lasercast
7.8 grns of blue dot with a 145 grn lasercast
8.2 grns of longshot with a 124 grn lasercast

Warm loads
13.0 grns of lilgun and a 124 grn Lasercast

I am still just working up the limits with my new Witness match. This was just my first forey to the range. All of these were very accurate and reliable. All were with Winchester brass, rp1.5 primers and 1.275 COL.

Obviously check a good manual to verify I have not given you any transcription errors.

Some of my favorite loads for my 38 Super Witness Match.

4.6 gr. Titegroup, 130gr. plated: Berry's
4.2 gr. 231 147 gr. Sub Sonic MBC: Cast bullet
4.6 gr. 231 147 gr. Sub Sonic MBC: Cast bullet
4.4 gr. Bullseye 130 gr. plated: Berry's
4.5 gr. Bullseye 125 gr. Cast RN MBC:

These are all very accurate loads in my Match Super.
