Hey all. I'm looking to get into a .38 Super soon. I've been generally happy with the Rock Island Arsenals in .45 ACP, so considering their .38 Super offering. However, I notice Taurus also offers something similar, though I am not sure if they are still being produced.

Any notions on which to go with? Thanx. :)

The last CDNN catalog has some very nice prices on the Taurus .38 Super.

We've got both the RIA Tactical 9mm and the Taurus 9mm. Nothing bad to say about either, pretty much flip a coin, although I got the Taurus because it was stainless, the RIA doesn't come in stainless. My wife usually shoots the RIA while I shoot the Taurus. IMHO both are very good buys.

As far as I know the RIA .38 Super doesn't come in the "Tactical" model so I'd go with the Taurus for its better sights.

Ditto on CDNN.... and I would get a Taurus myself.

I have not had a Taurus .38 Super, so that is not from actual experience, but do have many Taurus firearms.

And that is not dissing RIA....I have not had one of there firearms at all...YET!
but you see some nice examples on THR and some good comments as well.

But I think you will be hard pressed to top CDNN deal on the Taurus??

But shop around, and good luck! Post pics of what you end up with.

We are all suckers on THR for a picture show...:)

Thank ya both for the info. I will admit, the Taurus in .38 is a beauty. :)

shooter

I have a ria 38 super and it functions as intended and I like it, also have the pr1911 in .45, and just ordered the .38 super from cdnn, while i may not like the gold accents, I will figure out how to align myself with hem. haha.

I love the round, I jsut started reloading again and its one of the new ones to reload.
good luck with a purchase.
