Can I load 38 super with my 9mm dies by just re-adjusting for the added case length or do I need to spring for the 38 Super dies?

The .38 Super is a straight walled case, where the 9MM is tapered. While you might get away with using a 9MM sizer, it won't size the whole case, which might cause feeding/chambering problems.

I don't know though. I haven't tried it. I bought .38 Super dies. :)

You can load 38 Super with 9mm dies provided you use new brass.

The same dies are used for 9x19, 9x21 and 9x23, but not for .38 Super. The first three are all tapered cases of the same dimensions in diameter, but only differing in the length of the case. The 38 Super is a straight case and is different diameter than the others.

Hope this helps.

Try sizing the Super with 38/357 dies if you have them, then seat and crimp with your 9mm dies.

That should work, although the .38 Spl sizer is a couple of thousandths or so smaller than a .38 Super sizer is. At least mine is.

Use the proper 38 Super dies, otherwise you will be overworking the brass and making the expanding function more difficult, and cutting down on the brass life.
