My 9mm carry round is a Self Defense round ... whicb one ... I'm not choosy about.
My .380 right now is a very ... very round FMJ. simply because I don't have any self defense .380 on hand and it's a backup to my 9mm being broke right now. 8(

That whole deal about the .380 not having enough power is for people to think about who live in a town actually has these 300 pound gorillas with machetes on PCP. I know Corvallis sure as <edit for the gentle souls> doesn't.

Not having shot anybody with my LCP yet I went with a recommendation from a LE officer. He carrys a 380 for backup and uses Golden Sabers.

Thanks for the link 357.
Not sure how much that gelatin resembles the human body or if it can even be close, but still, certain rounds such as the much maligned .380 and .32 ACP sure went a long ways through that stuff.

I have been carrying Golden Sabers but I bought some Hornady XTP's to try. During the second clip on the fourth round in my LCP I heard a pop instead of a bang. The slide didn't cycle and I knew something wasn't right. The bullet tumbled, hit the paper target which was attached to a 1" thick wood board. The paper was slightly away from it in the center as it was taped top and bottom. The bullet went through the paper and bounced off the board and back out of the same hole. I called Hornady to give them the lot number and tell them what happened and I also called Midway USA where I purchased them. One in a 100 million squib load? Probably...but it did happen. I asked Hornady if they wanted a pic of the target but they didn't. They did say they have a laser type process which should have never let that happen. Just glad it wasn't the round I was carrying in the pipe!

Hornady Critical Defense, accurate, dependable and gives good penetration for a .380.

Hornady Critical Defense and Federal Hydra Shock, which ever I can find at the time. Both cycle well and I have faith in both.

I carry Corbon DPX in all 5 of my 380's . Have never had one problem with them
A 1/4" thick mild steel plate stop the DPX fired from my Bersa . at about 15 ' BUT If you had been wearing it would have bruised you good It made a big bulge on back side.
380 are not to be laughed at unless your a fool or wear blue suit with big S on it .

ran across this one in another thread...

I have tested the Remington Golden Sabre 102s and they function fine in my LCP (just like everything else so far).

Disclaimer: I only carry the LCP once or twice per year, and shoot it (these days) about the same amount.

That said, I had it loaded with the Golden Sabres until I saw the above. Zero expansion, apparently not moving fast enough. Last night I switched over to the DPXs. I have not yet tested them extensively (only about a box and a half so far) but I'm going to find some more and wring them out.

Has HE shot anyone with it ?
