I have shot the Lehigh Defense 380 Auto 90gr Xtreme Penetrator Ammunition at the range in my SW380's and Ruger LC380 (5 different pistols total) I have fired at lest 2 magazines from each weapon (more from the Ruger as it is my CCW)and they have all preformed flawlessly. No problems with loading, extracting or ejection. I now have them loaded in my home protection, auto protection, and personal carry weapons. I am hoping I never need to try them on a live person, but should the need arise, I am loaded and ready! They are quite pricey, limiting my practice, with this round but they preformed very well for me. Wondering how they are working for others?

So what's the purpose of these bullets? There's way too much penetration using these for self defense. They do look like they would have some hunting applications but not in a .380. They don't really do anything better than a much less expensive wadcutter imo.

Buffalo Bullets, which as you probably know markets high performance rounds, recommends solids for personal defense. Their reasoning is hollow points in .380, even their hot loads, may not penetrate enough through heavy clothing.

Really so a 380 at 1150fps will be stopped by some heavy clothes just HP And a 38 spl at same speed won't be or a 115 gr 9mm . At that fps is close to 700MPH

I have BB HP in my PPK /s and Mustang . To much recoil in KelTec for my taste. I bought ammo from dealer cheap . No interest showed by his other customers . My normal carry 380 is Corbon DPX

Remember this. Seems BB owner isn't bothered by selling these won't penetrate heavy clothing bullets .He still sells them at a premium price and makes a nice profit off you. Kind of talking out both side of his mouth ain't he .

Shooting Bull tests with the Lehigh were impressive, but there seems to be feeding problems in some 380 pistols.

Supposedly upping from 85gr to 90gr fixed the majority of loading issues that some pistols were having. The manufacture recommends they not be used in Kahr P380 and CW380s however.

Very long story. But to surmize the 380 has not experienced as much bullet design and powder enhancements the 9mm has in the last few years. In general .380 HP rounds do not penetrate enough and FMJ penetrate too much using the FBI/IWBA standards of 12-18 inches. And this was reflected in testing done on Youtube during the "ammo quest" of ShootingtheBull. According to his testing, the 380 XP performed the best in terms of penetration and consistent wound channels.

I don't have any 380 pistols currently. But if I ever acquire one again, I think the XP would be high on my list for carry.

When I see Police and Government agency's Like Border Patrol and FBI taking this ammo as their carry ammo . I might then start to believe in their Hype. Till then I stay with proven HP .

I think you mean "XTP" rather than "XP" which is what I carry in my 380 pistols.

For those that carry Buffalo Bore or DPX in their 380 pistols you might find this site interesting

And be sure to watch the video of the final wrap up.

Well said Sir!

They won't.
They don't use 380 pistols.
This ammunition in 9mm and 40 caliber will exceed the desired penetration of police protocol work, increasing their liability for collateral damage.
Different mission scope from a civilian looking to get more performance out of the 380 ACP.

Nope. In that context XP was Lehigh Xtreme Penetrator. XTP is a bullet type made by Hornady that several other companies use.

They sell both and let you make the choice along with their recommendation. I see nothing wrong with that.
