Hey gang! For a while now I've been subscribed to a gentleman on YouTube called "ShootingTheBull410", which is a channel that test various defensive ammunition loads in ballistics gelatin. It's a great channel IMHO.

Today I noticed a new upload of a .380 ammo test of the Lehigh XP Xtreme Penetrator load from Lehigh Defense. Supposedly, this bullet helps to solve some of the issues the .380 has with hollow point expansion and overpenetration of ball ammo. Check out the test:

The design of the bullet supposedly increases the pressure of the surrounding tissues and channels it through machined grooves on the bullets service, and that causes a larger wound cavity than a standard ball round but less penetration due to increased drag, so you end up with a wound channel approaching the size of a JHP round... but with no expansion needed. I'll admit that this sounded far out when I first heard it, but see for yourself. It sure looked like this bullet did a good job.

What do you guys think?

I think they're a good 380 round for winter carry.

I'm a little bit leery of carrying them in the summer. If you have to defend yourself from a bare-chested hooligan on a hot summer night and there are people around, you might shoot through your assailant, and end up hitting someone behind your assailant.
