.380 Auto Powders?

AAcd, I've tried them all, and i always come back to 231. It just seems to work well in my 380's. Sig 238, Beretta 85. With some powders I'd get stovepipes and ejection problems, but with 231, it's got the snap that is manageable, but very accurate. My wife can drive nails with her 238. Since that's her carry gun, I'm staying with 231 because that what she shoots the lights out with.

I'm shooting Berry's RNFB 100g .356 bullets also, with a light crimp. No issues with several thousand rounds shot. I think you'll be happy with 231.
Actually, I try many powders in many cartridges and always seem to come back to W231 with most of them. I hope they never stop making it and if they do I will be buying several 8lb jugs which should last my lifetime.

Thanks again for all the answers everyone.

I've been happy with Power Pistol. I originally only used it because I had some leftover from 9mm, but it worked surprisingly well. I've seen no reason to change now.

I've had deent loads using CFE Pistol, SR7625, and Win 231. SR7625 is the softest shooting, but it is being phased out or not produced any longer. Win231 is my go-to, because the CFE Pistol seems a little hot.

Missed this thread the first time around.

Back when I was looking around here for info on 380acp, I found a lot of guys recommending 3.0gr-3.1gr of Bullseye behind a 100gr bullet. Since I tend to use what I have on hand, I loaded some up at 3.0gr, and it's been working great for me. Actually, I need to load some more soon.

I have gotten the occasional stovepipe, and bumping it up a tenth would probably eliminate that, but I find it's good practice dealing with the unexpected SP. I also like practice ammo that's a bit on the lighter side anyway. I've broken / wore out several pistols already anyway.

Yet another, albeit belated, vote for W231/HP38.

To be honest, it is the only thing I ever tried. One of those rare occasions in reloading where your very first load works out so well there's no point in continued experimentation. The original goal reached on the first try.

With a 95gr cast LRN it easily out-shot factory in four different .380's.
