Santa was good to me. I got some Alliant Power Pistol powder and some primers. I want to load some .380 auto. I want to use 102 gr. Remington Golden Saber bullets. My Speer manual (#10) doesn’t have Power Pistol in it. The Alliant website’s loading data, for the .380 auto, only shows the 90 gr. Speer Gold Dot data. Anyone loaded Power Pistol behind 102 gr. Remington Golden Saber in .380 auto?

Speer #13 shows 4.2 to 4.7 Grs PP and 95 Gr jacketed bullets. Stop at 4.5 and you should be OK. One thing in your favor pressure wise is that the GS bullets have less resistance in the bore than most due to their design.

The Speer #12 has data for heavier bullets in .380, but no PP data.

Howdy! The set of Lee Reloading die set I have lists for 100 gr jacketed bullets a charge for Power Pistol at 4.2 min & 4.6 max. with a OAL of .975". Hope this helps, LM.

Both Lyman manuals (the regular manual, and the pistol/revolver) list PP for 100g fmj. Builds fairly high pressure. Oddly, they list larger PP powder charges for 115g XTP in the same receiver and barrel at the same pressure. Go figure.

I have loaded that combo with excellent results, the tightest grouping jhp I've fired from my BDA. PP is one of 3 powders I've used the others being better suited to cast slugs. great expansion with GS's but in wet cardboard stacked I had some jackets come apart or come off the deformed core completely.
don't have my data on hand but seems 4.4 is what I used if memory serves.

A little luck here

This was my 1st shot from my LCP with a 95g Montana Gold loaded with 3.2gr of w231. That WAS a little white rock. I wont show the other shots.

I used to use AA #2 for .380. Meters perfectly, which helps in small cases with tiny charges. Old 88 Gr Rem JHPs and 95 Gr Win FMJs. Never tried Power Pistol.

Thanks for the help. I think I'll load some up at 4.3 gr. and some at 4.4 and try them out. I may try 4.5 gr. loads at a later date. I have another question concerning GS bullets but I'll put that in another thread.
