Hello,

I currently own a 38sp(charter) and a 40 (s&w sigma), but am considering trading them in on a 357 mag(probably a ruger). Or should I just keep what I have?

.357 noise, flash, penetration are a bit much for indoor use. You have more bases covered with what you have, but those may not be the bases you're interested in covering.

Without trying to be insulting, remember, you asked for opinions, I would rather have a good Ruger or S&W .357 Magnum than the guns you have listed.

Now, if my primary goal was to stay concealed, the Charter would be fine and I would be happy with it. The Sigma, not so much, but, for all practical purposes, theres nothing wrong with it either.

What are you trying to do with a .357 Magnum that you can't do with the guns you have?

What he said....

If you can trade those 2 guns for a GP100 I would jump all over that.

I own all three calibers in similar platforms. Frankly I'm happy with any of them but as mentioned .357 is horrendously loud and rather flashy. FWIW, what I actually carry habitually is a P3at. I'd rather have my reliable and surprisingly accurate .380 that is easy to carry than fight to conceal a bigger gun while engaged in a my very active work. Open carry? Whatever you feel like -I've packed J frame .38s , medium frame .357s, full size autos and my new hunting/trail companion is a .44 spl. Charter Bulldog.

Nothing wrong with what you've got but.....

If i was going to have just one 357 the sp101 3" would be my choice.can shoot 38 and 357 and carry if you choose.i love my gp100 6" but not going to carry anywhere but the woods or range.will warn you 357 cost more per round than 40 or 38.a lot more.good shooting...

Trade it. The Ruger is just superior to the Charter Arms revolver. The Sigma is reliable gun with a bad trigger. If it doesn't bother you then keep it. As you have learned you get what you pay for with guns.
